The operating system
for your business.
Build toward full-scale automation around your business. Pair AI orchestration with deterministic workflow code and auditable evidence. Keep your identity while the shared OS improves.
Build once.
Keep building better.
A repeatable operating foundation for independent businesses, with room for each business to be different.
CrouseOS is being built from operating patterns reviewed in The Lumber Outlet Group, QualityEngineer.ai and the supporting agent operations framework. Business applications stay independent. The shared platform carries work, identity, approvals, evidence and the path to improvement.
Your business should not disappear
inside the next software update.
Think with a coach.
Work with an orchestrator.
Steve is the intended AI business coach and work orchestrator. The goal is useful reasoning connected to accountable work: understanding the question, identifying missing evidence, preparing the next step and escalating decisions that need the owner.
“Steve” here means the AI role. A consultation connects you with the founder.
Make the assumptions visible.
Business models, pricing, runway, experiments, grant narratives and engineering questions.
Give the next step an owner.
Tasks, dependencies, deadlines, blockers and eventually specialist handoffs.
Bring the evidence back.
Source records, reviewed outputs and explicit uncertainty. Specialist quality must be evaluated before relying on it.
AI proposes. Code executes.
Evidence makes it auditable.
The design separates reasoning from execution. Steve helps prepare the work; versioned code checks identity, authority, inputs and state transitions. Recorded evidence makes the result reviewable.
- 01
Assist
Steve drafts. You act.
A proposed email waits with you. - 02
Review
You approve each action.
An exact task receives approval. - 03
Autopilot
Approved routines repeat.
Exceptions return to the owner. - 04
Full auto
Permitted work runs within limits.
Limits and stop controls still apply.
Deterministic execution. Defined workflows enforce allowed steps, task-specific approvals and limits. Failures and uncertain outcomes return for recovery.
Auditable truth. Trace recorded work to its source, approvals and results. Evidence quality, freshness and validation matter; independent audit retention remains a delivery milestone.
Owner-controlled authority. The owner chooses permitted playbooks and automation modes. Prompts, documents and AI answers cannot grant new permissions.
What the foundation does.
What we are building on it.
Capability status reviewed October 4, 2026. “Foundation built” means implemented in the hosted pilot, with tests of the relevant controls. It does not mean the complete customer service is ready.
Working platform controls and retained records.
Implemented briefs or interfaces with live quality checks still open.
Not delivered or connected for customer use.
Launch & business design
Turn an idea into an accountable operating plan.
| Capability | What it does for your business | Current status |
|---|---|---|
| Venture brief | Define the customer, business thesis, owner, success criteria and budget ceiling in one workspace. | Foundation built |
| Reusable launch blueprints | Start with a general venture, commerce or industrial quality blueprint. Each creates a repeatable internal planning workflow. | Foundation built |
| Experiment gates | Move from thesis to a bounded experiment after planning evidence and a recorded human review. Pause or archive the work when needed. | Foundation built |
| Customer & market discovery | Structure interviews, positioning, demand tests and competitor research around source evidence. Live research tools and outcome tracking are still to be connected. | Planned |
Steve: coach & orchestrator
One place to think, decide and direct the work.
| Capability | What it does for your business | Current status |
|---|---|---|
| Private, contextual conversations | Keep saved conversations in a personal organization or venture context. Queued requests, cancellation and recovery are implemented; actual model responses require provider sign-in and validation. | Foundation built |
| Business, finance & startup coaching | Assess an idea, pricing, unit economics, runway and the next experiment. Six domain briefs exist, including grants, operations and engineering; response quality has not yet been evaluated. | Being validated |
| Grant & engineering support | Prepare evidence-led grant outlines and engineering questions with assumptions and review needs visible. Program verification, technical checks and specialist evaluations are still ahead. | Being validated |
| Priorities & specialist handoffs | Turn decisions into assigned work with an owner, deadline and blocker. Durable decision retrieval and specialist execution are planned extensions of the task foundation. | Planned |
Automation that grows with you
Give routine work more room as its reliability is proven.
| Capability | What it does for your business | Current status |
|---|---|---|
| Four automation modes | Record assist, review, autopilot or full auto for each venture. The owner chooses allowed playbooks and action limits; a mode change does not itself execute a business action. | Foundation built |
| Email & communications assistance | Draft, review and eventually send through the business's own mailbox. Email connectors, recipient checks, send approvals and delivery reconciliation remain to be built. | Planned |
| Scheduled operating routines | Run bounded follow-ups, reporting and recurring workflows with visible outcomes and escalation. Scheduling and external execution workers are not connected yet. | Planned |
| Bounded full auto | Execute only explicitly permitted playbooks, with limits, evidence and an owner-controlled stop. The policy layer is built; live actions and failure drills are still required. | Planned |
Work, authority & evidence
Make the decision and the work behind it visible.
| Capability | What it does for your business | Current status |
|---|---|---|
| Task queues & dependencies | Track work from ready to leased to complete, respecting dependencies. Concurrent claims, retries and expired-work recovery are tested. | Foundation built |
| Recorded human approvals | Bind a single-use approval to an exact task and policy version, with a human rationale. Stale or replayed approvals cannot authorize new work. | Foundation built |
| Declared budget controls | Use integer budget ceilings, reservations and settlements for governed tasks. Real accounting feeds, cash balances and paid execution cost reconciliation are not connected. | Foundation built |
| Evidence & portable records | Retain planning artifacts, hashes, append-only event chains and exports. State and audit evidence commit together; independent audit retention is a future milestone. | Foundation built |
Your business, evolving OS
Share improvements while protecting what makes each business its own.
| Capability | What it does for your business | Current status |
|---|---|---|
| Separate customization layer | Store venture branding and reporting preferences apart from the shared core and business pack. Current preferences are retained for tools as they are introduced. | Foundation built |
| Compatibility previews | Preview a core change, detect compatibility conflicts and retain explicit overrides. New tool permissions require separate review. | Foundation built |
| Controlled release rollout | Deliver verified, versioned updates with migrations, staged rollout and rollback. The current engine previews compatibility; executable customer update rollout remains planned. | Planned |
| Business-specific extensions | Add the applications and workflows agreed for a venture through independent adapters. Each business application keeps its own records and authority rules. | Planned |
Connected business tools
Bring the right systems together without flattening their boundaries.
| Capability | What it does for your business | Current status |
|---|---|---|
| Commerce & customer operations | Connect catalogs, inventory, customer service and order workflows to their authoritative systems. LOG patterns have been reviewed; live commerce connectors are not installed. | Planned |
| Quality & engineering operations | Connect controlled documents, quality tasks and engineering evidence to an independent quality application. QE customer tenancy stays distinct from CrouseOS venture access. | Planned |
| Finance & operating intelligence | Bring reconciled cash, costs, revenue and business metrics into decision making, with source and freshness visible. Live financial data and reporting integrations are future work. | Planned |
Cloud workspace & continuity
Work from a browser, with clear boundaries around your business.
| Capability | What it does for your business | Current status |
|---|---|---|
| Hosted browser workspace | Access the pilot console through HTTPS on a dedicated cloud host. Your home computer acts as a browser client. | Foundation built |
| Organization & venture isolation | Enforce server-resolved identity, organization membership and venture access. Public contact forms do not create an account or grant access. | Foundation built |
| Exports & online backups | Export operating records and take consistent online database backups. Recurring offsite backups and complete restore drills remain ahead. | Foundation built |
| Customer onboarding & service operations | Add customer identity recovery, separate provider onboarding, support commitments and annual update entitlements. These are required before general customer delivery. | Planned |
Your business.
Your operating system.
| Initial build | Business design, agreed applications and automation workflows, CrouseOS workspace, validation evidence and operator handoff. |
|---|---|
